Welcome to Moore Photography!
I cannot possibly tell you how excited I am that you made your way here, and how excited I am to be the one documenting the biggest day of your life!!
This guide is made up of three main parts: The Wedding Day, The Aesthetics, and The Experience. It's every main thing I can tell you about weddings, photography, and working with me crushed down into this one document, so you can benefit from more than just an email here-and-there from me! Instead of just dropping little breadcrumbs of my advice and expertise, I want to serve you up this entire full-course meal!
Photography is far more than just showing up with a camera on wedding day and hoping for the best. Absolutely not. I take your experience with me, the actual moments of your wedding, and the photos I create for you VERY seriously!
This guide is me sitting you down like you're my BFF, and saying, "Let me tell you everything that I know!"
As a photographer, I've been so blessed to be a key part of so many weddings over the years! And not only did I attend them, but I meticulously learned and experienced each one from the minute the first dab of makeup is applied until the groomsman's shirts come off on the dance floor. And as your friend, here's the most honest thing I could tell you after all that experience: the quality of a photograph is dictated by two things: (1) the photographer, and (2) what is being photographed.
Let me explain: The photos with stunning lighting, not only had an incredible photographer to catch that lighting, but the actual stunning lighting was probably there. Photos with breathtaking backgrounds were likely shot in breathtaking locations. Relaxed, authentic photographs were likely shot at relaxed or authentic moments. Do you see what I mean? (And don't worry, this has NOTHING to do with budget, or faking something, etc...)
Now, as your photographer, it's my job to create amazing photos no matter what! I'll make anything work! It's my job to make the moment look even better than it actually was! But these are all the things I would tell my best friend, because instead of sending you what I can "make work", I want to send you my best work.
I want your jaw to drop when I send you that "Here are previews from yesterday!" text.
That's why I'm handing this to you. From my experience with shooting weddings, here's everything I've learned, everything that I can promise you works well and doesn't, the things that make it hard and the things that make it easy, what to expect while working with me, and everything in-between! I want to send you the absolute BEST VERSION of my photography that is worth every single penny you spend and every single hour you prepare. In order to do that, I need your help!! :)

The WEDDING DAY
Here's all my creative and logistical advice with the big day...
LET'S START AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR DAY. IT'S ONE OF THE MOST SPECIAL MOMENTS OF THE ENTIRE WEDDING DAY.
GETTING Ready Estimated Time: 1 - 1.5 Hours
Getting ready photos are always some of my absolute favorites. Some people skip them to cut down on time, but I would not recommend skipping them! The beginning of your day, while you get your makeup done, your hair done, your dress on, your suit on, etc… it's so special and creates the most stunning photographs with your closest friends and your family.
THE START OF THE DAY
Keep in mind that wedding days often start slow, clunky, and a bit off schedule. So give yourself time to let that happen without stressful time constraints! If you can, try to have a getting-ready space and time set aside for each group beforehand. This can sometimes be a point of conflict for wedding parties when no one knows exactly where and when they are supposed to be getting ready. Setting those expectations beforehand is so helpful!
If you've booked just me for your wedding day and want both partners' getting ready moments captured, it's definitely possible! I can either photograph one partner's preparations earlier (usually the groom) and then move to the other partner (the bride for example). Or capture the groom relaxing and getting ready at the ceremony site just before it starts. If you prefer simultaneous coverage of both getting ready moments, consider adding a second photographer to your package. Just get in touch to discuss this option!
CHOOSING A SPACE
Try to choose a getting ready space that has as much natural light (windows) as possible, is uncluttered, and has bright and neutral walls...or close to a window is fine. This will ensure that elegant, bright, bridal look! So as an example: try a naturally lit master bedroom instead of a cluttered basement. Or, ask your venue if they provide you with an official bridal suite, at least for the girls! As much as possible, stay away from rooms with no windows, or fluorescent lighting, or small space/low ceilings. Remember though, I can work with anything!
Try to make sure that you and your bridal party members do your best to keep the space clean of messy makeup stations, tons of hair products, etc… The cleaner the space is, the more YOU will stand out in your photos!
THE PRE-FIRST LOOKS
Brides, thinking of doing a first look with your bridesmaids? DO IT! It's so worth it. Even if it's just them seeing you in your dress for the first time. They can leave the room while you get your dress zipped up (by your mom or MOH, maybe?), and then we'll call them in and I'll capture their reactions!
Thinking of doing a first look with your dad or mom? ALSO DO IT! These are the photos that always make me emotional the most, full disclosure. If you have a parent (or a sibling, friend, mentor) that is extra special to you, do a first look with them! It will mean the world to them!
The DETAILS Est. Time: 15 Mins
When I arrive, the first thing I will often ask for is your details so I can take detail shots! I try to make sure that this part is not rushed, because even though these might not be the most important photos of the day, they are still so meaningful!
PREPARE THE DETAILS
If you wouldn't mind, please prepare all your details you'd like photographed, and keep them prepared in one designated spot! This creates a seamless start to the day, instead of trying to track down each detail! These details can include:
Both wedding bands, and engagement ring.
Wedding bouquet.
Official wedding invitation.
Both pairs of shoes.
Groom's tie, socks, belt, etc…
Wedding Dress/Veil
Anything else for desired photographs.
The First Look & CREATIVE PORTRAITS Est. Time: 1-2 Hours
A "First Look" means taking a special time to see your partner for the first time all alone (and I'll be there to photograph it!). This moment usually flows directly into "Creative Portraits" which are the photos of you and your lovey dovey.
Whether or not you do a First Look is up to you! If you'd like one, I will walk you through this process on the wedding day! I will admit, First Looks create a much easier flow of the day to have your photos before the ceremony as opposed to after the ceremony and before the reception. On top of that, many brides and grooms are immediately less stressed when they finally see their partner instead of waiting until the ceremony. But it is up to you!
Best of both: if you want to wait to see your partner when they walk down the aisle, try a blind first look! I'll bring both of you together while wearing a blindfold or just touching hands.
Personal Tip: Write your partner a sweet note and/or get them a gift, and then give it to them at your first look! If it's a note, bring it, and then read it aloud to them! Or, some couples read their vows aloud to each other at their first look! It's always so sweet to bring something to exchange or read to each other during this moment, and it creates truly meaningful photos.
FIRST LOOK IDEAS & TIPS
CHOOSING A LOCATION
I will be sure and scout the best locations for a first look, couple photos, and bridal party photos on wedding day, and I will be sure to find the best possible places, but don't be afraid to think outside of the box with these! If your wedding venue doesn't provide some incredible scenes or backgrounds, look at what is near that location! Maybe there is a gorgeous open field nearby! Maybe there is a beach just 20 minutes away! Maybe the prettiest forest is a 10 minute walk down the road! Or ask me for ideas! You can visit this BLOG post with a bunch of location ideas. It's up to you guys, sometimes its just nice to enjoy your day at your venue and let me find the best photo spots too.
In Manitoba, the brightest light often appears in the afternoon, but no worries — I excel at creating stunning portraits in any lighting. While intense midday sun offers unique photo opportunities, we can also find shade for softer, more flattering light. This is especially important on hot days or when you have a large wedding party. Trust me to find the best spots for your photos, ensuring that no matter the lighting, your photos will be beautiful and everyone stays comfortable.
BRIDAL Party Est. Time: 30-45 Mins
For bridal party photos, don't forget to take it all in! This is one of those rare moments where you are with your absolute best pals, and not just one of them, but all of them in one place at the same time! Instead of getting caught up in the typical "boring" bridal party photos, take a second to enjoy the company, and just be your fun selves!
LOGISTICS AND AESTHETICS
It's crucial for the entire bridal party to know precisely where and when they should be throughout the wedding day. It's helpful to remind everyone to keep their personal floral accessories like bouquets and boutonnieres handy.
If you have specific ideas for your bridal party photos or want something unique, please share those with me! If not, my standard approach includes formal shots, fun and candid group shots, and individual portraits (for example, the bride with each bridesmaid). I highly recommend taking individual portraits with each member of your bridal party. These photos are wonderful for sharing on social media, and they make beautiful keepsakes of you with each of your close friends.
While I am flexible with scheduling and can work with various lighting conditions, finding spots with ample shade can enhance the quality of your photos, especially for larger groups. Your venue's shaded areas can be perfect for this.
We'll also have the wedding party together for part of the day, but I'll make sure to carve out some private time for just the two of you. To help organize these details smoothly, you'll fill out a questionnaire before the wedding, ensuring we cover all your preferences and requirements.
FAMILY Photos Est. Time: 30 Mins
These might not be the most "artistic" part of the day, but for most people, they are usually still very important! So let's talk about them...
PREPARE BEFOREHAND
Planning your family photo combinations in advance is incredibly helpful. I suggest you create a detailed list of all the specific family shots you'd like, including various combinations of family members. You can provide me with this detailed list when filling out the wedding day questionnaire. This ensures that I'm fully prepared with your preferences and helps everything go smoothly on your big day.
To ensure everyone is available and no one gets scattered, it's best to schedule family photos right after the ceremony at the same location. This strategy minimizes complications and keeps everyone together.
It's important to communicate clearly with each family member involved about where and when they need to be ready. Also, discussing and confirming the photo list with your parents beforehand can prevent any surprises and make sure everyone's expectations are met.
A personal tip: Focus on capturing moments with the family and friends who are most significant to you. Feel free to have individual photos with special people like your Grandma or mom. Prioritize the relationships that mean the most to you, and don't feel pressured to include extended family if those photos might not be used.
The CEREMONY Est. Time: 30-45 Mins
The moment we've been waiting for! Here's a tip: Before the ceremony is a sweet time to just calm down, and find some peace and quiet before the ceremony and reception. So, keep your favorite people close, take a deep breath, and enjoy the calm before the party!
BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER
Before your ceremony begins, reserve 30 minutes of 'do-nothing' time for you and your bridal party to relax and stay hidden as guests settle and the music starts.
Ceremonies typically last about 30 minutes, though some religious services might extend up to an hour. Ensure you've communicated clearly with your officiant about the allotted time for your ceremony to run smoothly.
Right after you're pronounced husband and wife, the exit is a joy to capture! As I walk out with you, capturing each moment, remember to focus on each other and the joy of your guests around you — this is a truly magical part of your day.
Directly after the ceremony, have a nice designated room or outdoor space where you and your partner (and then your bridal party) can go. This moment is one of the most special and emotional of the entire day. You just got MARRIED and are sharing your first moments together as a married couple! Choose a beautiful, intentional spot for these moments.
In the following section, I'll offer recommendations for both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces...
CEREMONY Spaces
If your ceremony is indoors...
If you are holding your ceremony at an indoor venue, natural lighting (windows) is going to be your best friend! I can work with any lighting, but if I have to depend on my artificial light (camera flash) for the lighting, the photos of your ceremony will not match my normal style that you have seen from my work! Try to avoid incandescent lighting directly above your head on the ceiling, as this creates harsh, unflattering shadows on the face while you're walking down the aisle or saying your vows. Avoid at all costs any sort of fluorescent lighting. Indoor ceremonies can be beautiful, but natural lighting is highly important!
If your ceremony is outdoors...
I love outdoor ceremonies! Planning yours in the late afternoon or early evening is ideal, as the summer sun at a lower angle creates a beautiful, warm glow. However, be mindful of the exact placement of your ceremony — direct summer afternoon sunlight can be harsh. Having a backup plan for unexpected rain is also wise, like having umbrellas on hand. Regardless of the time or weather, rest assured that I'll capture the light in a way that beautifully complements your ceremony, ensuring stunning photographs that avoid harsh shadows and showcase everyone at their best.
AND THEN WE PARTY.
The RECEPTION Est. Time: 3-5 Hours
That's right...now it's time to partayyyy! This is the time of the day that gets so fun, and I genuinely want you to remember the celebration of it all! Here's a few logistical and lighting related tips to remember as you are planning your reception!
LOGISTICS AND TIPS
Try to set a time for your reception to officially begin (which usually starts with your grand entrance with your bridal party), and then stick to it! This will ensure that your reception doesn't feel like it's "delayed" for your guests, and it won't keep them waiting around longer than they expected, so they will be more likely to stay for the whole thing!
Personal tip: The classic events of a reception are so fun! First dances with your new spouse, or one of your parents on either side are always so special, and you will absolutely love and cherish those photos. These first dances are the PERFECT way to start the open dancing. If guests see the head couple out there dancing, they will want to as well!
And cut that cake! Cake cutting photos are so playful/special, so make sure and schedule it into your reception time! Keep in touch with your DJ so they know when to announce this!
MINDFUL OF LIGHT SOURCES
Lighting is key in enhancing your reception photos, and I love to capture the unique atmosphere each venue's lighting creates. Whether it's elegant chandeliers, romantic string lights, or dramatic uplighting, I'll make sure these elements are highlighted in your images.
I bring my own lighting to ensure your faces are beautifully illuminated during speeches and key moments, regardless of the venue's natural light. For receptions held outdoors or under a tent, we can blend natural settings with installations like lanterns or fairy lights to create a stunning atmosphere.
I'm here to capture every detail and ensure the lighting complements the mood of your celebration perfectly.
Quick tip: if you could, request to your DJ that they only use neutral white lights on the dance floor just during those first planned dances. Don't worry, this is NOT an odd request! Many DJs will use multi-colored lights, and it tends to create really funky-colored dancing photos (think: random red or blue or green spots on people's faces and outfits). The neutral white lights make such a difference to create stunning, timeless, share-worthy dancing photos!
SUNSET Photos
You know that glowy, soft, romantic light that hits right during the last hour of the day's sunlight? Yeah, it's pretty incredible. Without a doubt, I always recommend sunset photos of the married couple. These are often my past clients' favorite photos from the day!
Depending on when the sunset is on your wedding day, this moment of the day is the hour or half-hour before the sun officially sets on the horizon. We'll have to be mindful that, if there are tall trees nearby, the sun will "set" behind those trees about a half hour before it sets on the actual horizon. I'll keep my eye on it!
It is so nice to take photos at this time of day, not only because of the lighting, but because the responsibilities of the day are over, you both are far more relaxed, and all that's left is the love and the joy!
"HOW DOES THIS WORK?"
Good question. Well, I will come steal you two away during your reception when people are all busy mingling or dancing. Don't worry, it might sound odd to have the married couple leave their own reception for a bit, but it's truly not odd at all! Guests usually don't even notice, and we probably don't have to go far to get some really nice light. And then, we'll find the prettiest spot away from the reception, and snap some photos! All in all, this should only take up about 15-20 minutes of you two being away from the reception.
Ending on a High Note: Estimated Time: 30 to 60 minutes usually ending around 10:00pm
As we approach the grand finale of your wedding day, the dance floor opens up, and there's nothing left but to celebrate with friends and family. This is the moment where your only job is to let loose and enjoy. My coverage during the last 30 to 45 minutes is all about capturing the unscripted joy and the spontaneous dance moves that define the spirit of your celebration.
As my scheduled coverage time winds down, I'll check in with you to make sure we've captured everything you wanted and that you're satisfied with the day's memories. If you find that the night is still young and you want more coverage, just let me know. Additional hours can easily be added, and you'll simply be invoiced for the extra time after the event.
SOME IDEAS AND TIPS
From the energetic vibes of the dance floor filled with laughter and awesome moves, to traditional tosses like the bouquet or garter, these moments are precious. And if you're planning a grand exit with sparklers or even a fireworks show, I'll be there to ensure these electrifying moments are captured beautifully. This is your time to shine and give your guests a memorable send-off.
However, try to stay visible! I know it's tempting to sneak off for a quiet chat — just remember not to spend too much time hidden away with Aunt Sharon in a dark corner of the venue.
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of emotion and celebration. As it draws to a close, immerse yourself fully. Dance, laugh, and celebrate — it's the beginning of your married life, after all. Remember, I'm just a step away to capture every unforgettable moment until it's time to say goodnight.

Color, style, and functionality tips for your wedding day...
Make it TRUE TO YOU
When it comes to aesthetics, styling, and colors, I want to be careful not to impose too much opinion, because it's YOUR day! Above anything, above trends, above Pinterest or Instagram telling you what to do with your day, the most important tip I can give is to make this day feel like you. And based on what feels like you, this section is how I can guide you best with those fundamental stylistic choices you've probably already made! Sound good?
Artistic Recommendations
CHOOSING YOUR VENUE(S)
I will be brief with venue input, as most couples have their venue selected before they inquire with me. My advice is to choose a venue that truly resonates with you. Whether it's a rustic barn, a grand historic building, or a cozy backyard, the key is that it feels right for your celebration. I excel at capturing the unique vibe and essence of any location, ensuring it complements your story beautifully.

LOCATION, SEASON, & STYLE
My main advice is, try to choose selections that blend well with three main things: (1) location of your wedding (2) season of the year (3) style and vibe you've chosen for your wedding as a whole.
LOCATION SPECIFICS
When selecting your wedding palette, think about the backdrop and atmosphere of your venue to ensure your colors complement the space beautifully. Whether your wedding is outdoors in nature or indoors, consider what fits naturally with the surroundings. Earth tones and light, neutral colors are timeless in outdoor settings, but don't shy away from bold colours that might reflect elements of your venue's decor or its natural surroundings.
For indoor weddings, whether in a grand city hotel or a quaint country barn, align your color choices with the venue's existing decor to enhance the ambiance and create a seamless look. Look into your own home for inspiration as well; think about how your wedding colors will look in large art displays or in your wedding album at home. This consideration ensures the chosen palette not only complements the venue but also represents a style that resonates with your personal taste and looks incredible in your home environment.
The venue's character and your personal style should guide your color selections. Visit your venue to observe prominent colors and textures — this will help you craft a color scheme that is not only visually appealing but also deeply satisfying and appropriate for both the venue and your future home display.
SEASON SPECIFICS
If your wedding is in the later Spring, Summer, or Fall, you have a bit more freedom with color! Obviously, you want the colors to make some sense with the season in which your wedding falls. So especially for autumn, it might be best to look at the autumn colors and choose something that would blend well with autumn color!
If your wedding falls between the months of November-March, I would be extra mindful of your color selections. Oftentimes, winter landscapes are naturally more dull (color-wise) during those months, so it's AMAZING to add some pops of color if your wedding is within that time of year!
Quick tip: brides, make sure you and your bridesmaids come prepared with coats or shoulder coverings for winter weddings!
LOCATION, SEASON, & STYLE — Continued...
STYLE SPECIFICS, EXAMPLES, & TIPS
Firstly, let's talk about making it cohesive. This probably goes without saying, but it's best if all the decor, venue, outfits, etc. all look like they flow well together! Don't overthink this too much, but I'll try to give some quick examples:
Tip/example for bridal party wardrobe: if your bridesmaids are all in highly boho dresses, it's best to not have your groomsmen wearing classic tuxedos. Instead, I would try putting your groomsmen in something like leather suspenders, or textured suits, etc… something that matches the vibe/style of the bridesmaid dresses!
Tip/example for florals: let's say your wedding dress was very boho or classic-elegant. What I would do is, grab some inspiration or expertise from Pinterest (or even better, your florist in this case) as to what boho florals look like, or what classic-elegant florals look like, and then make your selections from there based on what fits your dress!
Tip/example for brides: if you are holding your wedding outdoors, or at a natural-esque venue, be mindful to choose a dress, jewelry, and hairstyle that matches that style. Flowy hair worn down or half-up-half-down always pairs well with those more natural spaces instead of a tight up-do.
Secondly, let's talk about movement and texture! I promise you, movement and textures are going to serve you well! Especially in the wardrobe selections, the softer and more flowy the fabrics and designs (especially for the girls), the better! This creates movement and depth to photos that stiff fabrics or cuts just don't provide.

From start to finish, here's what to expect as we work together...
Today (Booking Day)
Your date is officially BOOOOKED on my calendar and I'm probably blasting some Taylor Swift with my daughter in celebration as you read this.
Engagement Photos
Booked an engagement shoot with me? Let's get that date on the books and we'll get started on your vision, location, and wardrobe for the shoot! I will send you a fun questionnaire for the two of you to fill out together.
Booking Payments
2nd payment due 1 month before wedding day! (you will get an auto-reminder email.) Final Payment due on the wedding day! (you will get an auto-reminder email.)
Now Until Wedding Day
Listen friend. This time is fair game for you to come to me with ANYTHING about your wedding. Send me shots of the dress, ask me for vendor recommendations, see if I can look up some locations near your venue to take photos if needed… I'm here for ya!
1 Month from Wedding Day
I will send you a wedding day questionnaire for you to fill in all the logistics that you know and I'll help you with the wedding day schedule. If needed, we can schedule a phone or video (or in person) meeting to talk your wedding details, expectations, and then create a wedding day timeline with you!
WEDDING DAY!
I will text you the morning of, just to let you know that I am ready and excited out of my mind to finally be headed to your wedding!! Then, we have a blast creating the most beautiful photos of your dreams!
Day-After Wedding
I send you the first previews from your wedding day gallery so you already have something to enjoy from the day before. Make sure you have a tissue close-by!!
You should book your "album" meeting with me for approx a month after your wedding.
1 Month after Wedding Day
AHHH it's finally time! I send you the FULL gallery of all your wedding photos! I will be SO excited for you to see these, and I promise to pour my heart into them!
3 Months After Wedding
I want you to have your beautiful wedding album by then... this is where your story comes to life. This is where hundreds of digital files are carefully distilled down to a tangible book. I want you to have finished artwork that you can touch and experience with all of your senses. For you, your family, and the generations to follow. You'll have something that can become a part of your family history.
"WHAT NOW?"
Don't be a stranger! I always encourage my clients, if you loved working with me -- don't hesitate to reach out when you need a photographer again! I LOVE shooting anniversary shoots, maternity shoots, or young-family shoots for my past clients. Seriously… one of my favorite things is to see your name pop back up in my inbox!
ENGAGEMENT photos
Did you book an engagement shoot with me? If you haven't yet, I couldn't recommend it more! Engagement photoshoots are one of the best ways to get to know each other, get comfortable with my shooting style, and it makes the wedding day photos SO much less intimidating. Also, these shoots are just so much fun!
YOUR VISION & MY INPUT
One of the first things I ask my couples before an engagement shoot is: "Do you have a vision for this shoot?" Basically, do you have something in mind that you'd like to make a reality? Or do you have something small that you'd like to build off of?
Either way is great! The greatest thing you can do for me is to just let me know where you are at! And the good news is, you get ME as much or as little as you'd like with my creative input! (My only non-negotiable is timing: I usually shoot engagement photo sessions in the early morning or in the evening before the sun sets during weekdays! (sometimes weekend if available) This is to ensure the best lighting for your shoot!) If you have very little creative vision for your shoot, don't feel bad about that at all! I love helping guide you through the process of finding and picking a location, any thematic elements, and your outfit choices!

WHAT FEELS MOST LIKE YOURSELVES?
My biggest piece of advice is just to make it feel like YOU. With a wedding, there is obviously going to be so many "bells and whistles" and formal-wear, so with the engagement shoot, I always like to get my couples completely in their element where they feel and look most comfortable and true to themselves. Feel free to think outside the box with this! Let's get creative!

"WHY DO I WANT A WEDDING ALBUM?"
A wedding album is more than just a collection of photographs; it's a tangible legacy of your special day. Unlike digital files that may never leave a hard drive, an album is a cherished heirloom, passed down through generations.
These pages capture your most treasured moments, allowing you to relive your joy with each turn. They're not just for you but for future generations who will see your love story unfold. Imagine your children and grandchildren experiencing your wedding day through these images, feeling every emotion and seeing every smile as if they were there.
In a digital age, the enduring charm of a printed album stands out as a beacon of personal history and emotion, a testament to the timeless nature of your love. This album will become one of your most prized possessions, a reminder of a day filled with love and joy, forever captured in print.
Don't let your photos just live on a computer screen or your phone. They are there to be enjoyed by you, your spouse, and everyone who loves you. It's what you'll flip through every anniversary and what you'll show your friends when they come over for dinner. It's what you'll use to show your children where it all started. It's for you and the future generation. Don't let the images sit on your computer screen; they deserve better.
"HOW DO I GET A WEDDING ALBUM?"
Receiving your wedding album is simple. Most of my wedding packages include an album, and about a month after your wedding, we'll set up what I call an "album sales" meeting. The term 'sales' is just to be transparent — it's actually a collaborative session where we finalize your cherished album together. During this time, it's common for couples to fall in love with more photos than initially planned, often leading to upgrading their album or adding parent albums. I like to be upfront about this possibility at our meeting. This process is straightforward and designed to ensure your memories are beautifully and perfectly preserved.
HERE ARE SOME COMMON QUESTIONS PAST COUPLES HAVE ASKED...
"What if it rains on my wedding day?"
If it rains on your wedding day, I'm not scared at all! The only thing that might put me in a difficult situation as a photographer on a rainy wedding day is if the couple is completely unwilling to take photos outside or if they lose heart over the weather. Don't worry, I'm not saying you have to be willing to get soaked! But, if you come prepared with some pretty umbrellas (I try to have in my car), or you're willing to put up with a light rain on your hair, or you're willing to duck under some trees and all the while you stay positive -- then there is nothing to worry about!!
If your venue lacks enough space for photos with a full wedding party, it might be a good idea to book a studio space or shooting space just for an hour on your day for "insurance".
I say this truthfully: rainy wedding days are some of my favorites. Rain is so incredibly romantic and sweet if you stay positive and flexible! And hey...if you ARE ready to get fully soaked? I am SO down. Rain photos are so stunning, I'll prove it to you!
"What if I'm realizing that I need you there for more hours?"
No worries! I've likely dedicated the entire day to your wedding, so if you need me for longer, it just starts at $300 per extra hour (depending on your collection booked) and you can add that on as late as the day-of!
"I didn't book a second shooter, but now I'm thinking I want one. Is that possible?"
Absolutely! I would be happy to add a second shooter to the wedding package. Just let me know, and I will add it on!
"Will my dress get dirty during photos?"
That's up to you! But brides, I say this with your absolute best in mind... DON'T BE AFRAID TO GET THAT DRESS A LITTLE DIRTY! Here's the truth: it's probably the one day of your life that you get to wear this stunning gown! So, don't be afraid to get that crazy shot, or walk through the sand, or trek through the tall grass! Almost always, people are never looking directly at the bottom of your dress, and the dress never gets as dirty as you think it might!
Want to know one of the best ways you can help me as a photographer capture the type of photos that are going to BLOW YOU AWAY? Be willing to let the dress get a little dirty. :)
"Will my wedding still look pretty if I have a lower budget?"
OH MY GOODNESS. YES. I don't know how "expensive" became synonymous with "beauty." Some of the most stunning weddings I've ever been to were "low-budget" weddings (whatever that means). Creative intentionality, effort, and heart will always always always create the most stunning wedding days.
"What if I'm reading though your guide, and there's a lot of your tips that I just can't make happen?"
Don't worry about it! This guide is simply created to HELP you, not to stress you out or pressure you into something that doesn't feel like you. Obviously, I stand by the things I say in the guide, and they are important, but if you can only implement a solid handful of tips that I laid out in this guide, you're already ahead of so many other weddings!
"Where would you like to be seated at the reception?"
Either way is fine! But it is easier to be seated at a separate vendor table, or if there are no other vendors present, I can totally sit at a table alone! I'm fully willing to sit at a table with other wedding guests as well, I just prefer to sit away from wedding guests as I will be coming and going throughout the reception and probably stuffing in food at random times, and I don't want to come off rude to others!
"Have you shot at my venue before, and how do you know it will work for you?"
For every wedding venue I haven't yet seen, I show up early to scout the best shooting locations on-site. That said, I truly have worked with so many different types of venues, I know fairly quickly where the best shooting locations are after a short scouting walk!
